What is community acquired MRSA ?
|
|
MRSA infections have a tendency to be especially prevalent among people in hospitals, nursing homes
and other health care facilities.
However, there are certain MRSA strains that are known to readily spread between members of the
general community. These strains of MRSA are known as community acquired MRSA or
“CaMRSA”.
Unlike hospital associated MRSA (HaMRSA), where there are patients with open wounds, weakened
immune systems and the use of invasive devices, CaMRSA infections may occur in people who are
normally healthy and otherwise considered to be at lower risk.
